Today's bird for day 3 of FeBIRDary is a toucan. I would have never chosen this bird to do. It's not even on my radar. However, one of my Facebook followers suggested it and I already committed to doing all the birds suggested.

The toucan was created with Prismacolor pencils and I drew it on Strathmore black mixed media paper. The one thing about doing these challenges that I like is that I can experiment a little with supplies. I have every color that Strathmore makes in mixed media paper. My "go-to" is always white and I need to make more of an effort to use the other colors I have which are tan, black and blue. It would be interesting to do the same drawing on white mixed media paper and see how the toucan would look. Toucans are really bright. I felt like the black mixed media paper toned down that brightness.
So I am 3 for 3 on birds for February. I have no idea what I am doing for tomorrow, but it will be a bird from the suggestions list.
